Hengky Kurniawan MSc.

Kiki1Hengky Kurniawan is a research fellow of the Institute for Economic and Social Research (LPEM FEBUI) and also lecturer at the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia. He obtained his bachelor degree in economics and development study from the same institution. Before joining LPEM in 2005, he served as a teaching assistant at the Department of Economics. He earned his master’s degree from the Faculty of Economics, University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Italy. Currently, he is pursuing a doctoral degree in spatial economics at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

He has been actively involved in various LPEM research projects and trainings with clients from local governments, various ministries from the Government of Indonesia, private sectors, and also international institutions such as JICA, the World Bank, AIPD, and SEADI. Furthermore, he also acted as an consultant for various projects and taught part-time at some private universities in Jakarta. He actively participates in the international conferences of regional science and southeast-asian studies. Currently, he is an active member of the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) and Regional Science Association International (RSAI).


Research Interests

Urban and Regional Economics, Spatial Economics, Applied Micro-econometrics, Microeconomics, Geographical Information System, Economic Convergence and Development, and Political Economy of Development.
