The oil subsidy cut in November 17th gives the government more space to allocate its budget to more productive sectors. Although government budget would likely remain in deficit of 2.4 percent GDP in 2015, a more productive budget tone would boost confidence of domestic and foreign investors and would further increase investment.

Multidimensional Approach to Poverty Measurement in Indonesia

Poverty is multidimensional phenomenon. The poverty measurement that based on consumption level is insufficient in explaining the multiple deprivations faced by poor. Applying Alkire & Foster’s multidimensional methodology framework by utilizing the National Socio Economic Survey Indonesia data (2011), this study confirmed that the monetary measure of poverty should be complemented with multidimensional poverty measure to capture comprehensive picture of deprivation in Indonesia.

The Impact of Indonesia Election 2014 on Macro Economy Indicator

Pemilu merupakan hajatan demokrasi besar bagi Indonesia yang berdampak secara politik dan ekonomi. Besarnya biaya politik, dana kampanye, serta peningkatan aktivitas ekonomi yang berkaitan dengan kampanye politik turut memberikan sumbangsih pada perekonomian. Perilaku pelaku usaha dan investor serta sentimen pasar juga berperan mempengaruhi perekonomian di tahun politik. Studi ini membahas estimasi dampak dari Pemilu terhadap indikator makroekonomi berupa konsumsi, investasi, dan jumlah uang beredar, serta IHSG.

Textile and Textile Product, Footwear, and Furniture: Can it still be Developed?

Industri manufaktur Indonesia memiliki potensi untuk berperan sebagai leading sector penguatan perekonomian, karena berkaitan dengan sektor lain, dan bernilai tambah signifikan. Studi ini bertujuan (1) Melakukan analisis data historis; serta (2) Melakukan proyeksi atas indikator industrial terpilih. Objek kajian meliputi sub-sektor industri Tekstil dan Produk Tekstil (TPT), alas kaki, serta furnitur, dalam periode pengamatan 1990 � 2012.

Outlook of Indonesia Banking Stability in 2014-2015

Ketidaksabilan sistem perbankan memiliki dampak yang besar, baik secara mikro maupun makro dan memakan biaya penyelamatan yang tinggi. Berdasarkan pengalaman terdahulu, krisis keuangan akan mengarah pada krisis selanjutnya yang akhirnya justru melemahkan perekonomian suatu negara secara keseluruhan bahkan meluas kepada ekonomi negara lain, seperti apa yang terjadi pada krisis keuangan Asia tahun 1997/1998 dan krisis keuangan global tahun 2008/2009.

ASEAN’s Economic Development and the Role of International Cooperation: FDI for the Future: Human Capital, Innovation, and Competitiveness

The Policy Brief is based on the TIFO 25th Anniversary Symposium in
ASEAN with the title “FDI for the Future: Human Capital, Innovation, and
Competitiveness”, held on Monday, November 24, 2014 initiated by LPEM FEUI
in partnership with Graduate School of Public Policy, The University of Tokyo.
A key message from the seminar was foreign direct investment (FDI) is an
important agenda for the AEC, and several issues were flagged: (1)
impediments to FDI to ASEAN countries; (2) connectivity between ASEAN
countries and its external partners; (3) outward FDI.
