LABOR MARKET BRIEF: Volume 3, Number 8, August 2022

Wednesday August 31st, 2022

Wages can provide an overview of workers’ welfare, especially for informal workers who tend to fluctuate. In July 2022, BPS noted that the wages of rural workers (farmers) and urban workers (construction workers) increased nominally but decreased in real wages. This condition indicates that the purchasing power of workers has decreased compared to last year’s condition. This condition can be analysed to evaluate policies to maintain people’s purchasing power, particularly for those in informal groups.
