Faisal H. Basri, SE., M.A. (1993-1995)

Faisal H. Basri is an economist and a politician. He is one of the nephews of former Vice President Adam Malik. Faisal Basri completed his undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (1985) and holds a Master of Arts degree in economics at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, USA (1988).

He started his career as a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia for the course in Political Economy, International Economics, Development Economics, and History of Economic Thought (1981-present). He is also a lecturer in Accounting Master Program (MAKSI), Master of Management Program (MM), Master Program in Planning and Policy Development (PNPM), and Graduate Program of University of Indonesia (1988-present). He serves as the head of Department of Economics and Development Studies, University of Indonesia (1995-1998) and Chairman of the College of Economics (STIE) Perbanas Jakarta (1999-2003). He is one of the founders of the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) (1995-2000).

In the goverment, Faisal Basri was also a member of “World Economic Development” team under the Second Assistant Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs (1985-1987) and a member of Presidential Assistance Team for Economic Affairs (2000).
