Mohamad Ikhsan holds a Master Degree from Vanderbilt University, USA in 1991 in the field of monetary and international economics. In 1998, he earned his Ph.D in economics from the University of Illinois, specializing in Development and International Economics.
He was a Member of LP3E – Chamber of Commerce (1999-2005), Member of the Indonesian Maritime Council (1999-2007), Vice Chairman of the Working Group LEMHANAS Economics (2000-2005), Independent Commissioner of PT. Indosat (2003-2004), Commissioner of PT. Bakrie & Brothers (2006), Commissioner of PT. Danareksa (2008), Special Staff of Minister for Economic Affairs (2004-2009), and Member of the National Research Council, Ministry of Research and Technology (2004-2009). Recently, he served as a Special Assistant Vice President (2009-present). In 2010, Mohamad Ikhsan was inducted as a Full Professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia.
